Arrival by car
- Coming from Vienna West: Take the A1 motorway to St. Pölten Ost – continue on the S33/B37a expressway to Krems Mitte – follow the B3 federal road to Dürnstein. Turn left before the tunnel – drive through the town gate – continue into the pedestrian zone – take the first or second street on the left.
- Coming from Vienna City Centre / Vienna North: Take the A22 motorway to Stockerau West – continue on the S5 expressway to Krems Mitte – follow the B3 federal road to Dürnstein. Turn left before the tunnel – drive through the town gate – continue into the pedestrian zone – take the first or second street on the left.
- Coming from Salzburg / Linz: Take the A1 motorway to Melk – cross the Danube bridge via the B3a federal road – continue on the B3 to Dürnstein. Drive through the tunnel – turn right after the tunnel – pass through the town gate – continue into the pedestrian zone – take the first or second street on the left.
Access to the historic centre
- For arrival at the hotel and for checking in at the apartments, you are permitted to drive by car through the pedestrian zone directly to Hotel Richard Löwenherz.
- Please drive slowly in the historic town centre and show special consideration for pedestrians and cyclists.
Parking
Please note that different parking options apply for hotel guests, apartment guests and restaurant guests. The public parking spaces in the historic town centre are reserved exclusively for residents of Dürnstein.
Hotel guests
- A maximum of one parking space per room is available in one of our two courtyards from 3:00 pm on the day of arrival until 11:00 am on the day of departure.
- The parking spaces directly in front of the hotel are accessible at all times. Please note that the gate to the inner courtyard is closed from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am.
- Upon check-in, you will receive an access card for our hotel parking area.
- We accept no liability for vehicles parked on our premises.
Apartment guests
- Private parking spaces are not available for guests staying in our Richard Löwenherz Apartments.
- Check-in takes place directly at Hotel Richard Löwenherz. For check-in and unloading your luggage, you may first drive directly to the hotel. There you will receive your apartment keys and all further information about your stay.
- After unloading, we kindly ask you to park your vehicle at one of the public parking areas P1, P2, P3 or P6 outside the historic town centre.
- Apartment guests have the option of booking a discounted parking rate before arrival. You will receive the relevant link with your booking confirmation.
Restaurant guests
- Private parking spaces are not available for guests of our Richard Löwenherz Restaurant.
- Please park your vehicle at one of the public parking areas P1, P2, P3 or P6 outside the historic town centre. From there, our restaurant is easily accessible on foot.
- For dropping off and picking up guests, access through the pedestrian zone to the restaurant is possible.
Arrival by train & bus
- From Krems an der Donau railway station, you can easily reach Dürnstein by bus or taxi. The nearest bus stop is located at car park P2 and is only a few minutes’ walk from the historic town centre.
- A particularly scenic way to experience the Wachau even before your arrival is the Wachau Railway, which operates seasonally between Krems and Emmersdorf. The nearest railway station, Dürnstein-Oberloiben, is also within walking distance of our properties.
Arrival by boat
- A particularly atmospheric way to reach Dürnstein is by travelling along the Danube. The scheduled Danube cruises dock directly below Dürnstein Abbey at Danube landing stage 20.
- From the Danube promenade, Hotel and Restaurant Richard Löwenherz can be reached via a staircase in approximately 5 minutes on foot. Our Richard Löwenherz Apartments are also easily accessible by walking from the landing stage.
Arrival by plane
- The nearest international airport is Vienna International Airport, located approximately 100 km from Dürnstein.
- From there, you can travel by train via St. Pölten to Krems an der Donau, and continue to Dürnstein by bus or taxi.
